PITTCON 2007 Review

Chicago, IL – The Windy City certainly lived up to it’s name during this year’s Pittsburgh Conference and Exposition. While the weather was cold and snowy outside, the Exhibition floor was brisk with attendee traffic. Although official attendance numbers have not been released, many of the 1,100+ exhibitors agree – this was a very successful Pittcon. Exhibitors at Pittcon this year unveiled novel technologies, introduced new or enhanced products, and announced recent partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions. GenTech Scientific used the conference to announce their recent distributor partnership with Biochrom for the new line of Libra Spectrophotometers, unveil their new branch - GenTech Taiwan, and to show off some quality refurbished GC and HPLC systems and talk service with the attendees.

Of course, a major draw to the GenTech booth was the chance to win a beautiful 2003 100th Anniversary Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster motorcycle. Over 1,500 entries were received and GenTech is pleased to announce the winner: Dawn Whitaker of Crown Point, Indiana. This is the second consecutive year that GenTech has sponsored this give-away at Pittcon.

- Don’t overlook the importance of Injector Port Maintenance – change your inlet seal and inlet liner on a regular basis.

- Check your roughing pump oil level on a weekly basis. Look for leaks and listen for unusual noises – clear signs that your pump may not be performing as it should.

• GenTech Scientific was recently recognized by the New York Association of Approved Environmental Laboratories (NYAAEL) as a corporate member. The NYAAEL is a non-profit organization of New York State Department of Health approved laboratories and related industry representatives.
